White Trucks

There are some old White trucks in a scrape yard near me. There about 2,or 3 ton trucks from 50's-60's im not a white man, but i really do like the design and looks of the truck. My question is if a guy wanted to make a "Muscle truck" and had a done up 6V53 detroit putting 350h.p would this truck be fast. with the gas prices getting around 94.5L and diesel at 70.0L it makes sence to make a diesel hall. If a guy could gear the truck with a 2 speed rear axle so you get speed off the line then switch when you get to proper speed. my goal is to make these hondas and other small cars think twice about a truck!.. or is this idea a bad thing to do to a old truck.
