'54 F-100 project 302 v.351?

Hello all,
I am the proud owner of a '54 F-100 project. I want to rebuild her but need some advice. I am trying to decide on the engine for her. I see that most of these trucks are having the 351 put in them. I have been told that a 302 would be a good sound choice as well. What are your opinions and why? (Transmission advice welcome too.) I appreciate any advice as this is my first project.
