Need lots of advice on 51 Chevy

I have a 51 Chevy and I want to put a 350 in it. Everyone says that the steering and suspension would have to be beefed up and that the 51 body would mount to the frame of a 77-78 Chevy. Would the frame hold a 350? I thought that those trucks had 350s in them. What transmission would work, 300, 350, 700? I am wanting to get a new rearend out of a car. I need a lot of help
