ford 2speed eaton shift motor

I have a '64 Ford two ton, T600 with an Eaton 2-speed rear end in it, I think the shift motor is not working.
Does anyone know is this is just an ordinary type electric motor?, that should run if hooked up directly to 12 volts ?(mine doesn't)
And does anyone know if these are still available ?
