OK,OK. I thought I would get a comment about the Chevy engine. It is hard to dispute that the 350 Chevy is the cheapest engine to buy and build up though. I like the FE engine myself, but they are getting a little hard to find. A buddy of mine put a 460 in his 57 Fairlane and says if he had it to do over, he would use a 390 or 428, as it would have fit better. But he had the 460. The small block Ford is and easy engine to find, possibly even in running shape, at this time. They work great in the light Ford pickups. I wonder if the guy in the photo above has a line lock? Impressive, but I hate to waste my tires up in smoke!

I bet your 47 really goes. Back in the early 60's my brother had a 47 Coupe with a big inch 53 Merc flathead with Edelbrock heads, 3 carbs, hot ignition, headers and Zephyr gears in a 39 floorshift transmission. It was a very hot car for the times, up to 100 MPH. But the handling was not so good and the stock brakes were scary even then. A fun car and great memories. A few trophies and a lot of street races run. I suppose you have taken care of the handling and braking shortcomings on your 47.

It is fun to hear about other guys' projects.
