Well let see , your u/joints on the ft last longer , less drag on the truck , why have the axels and gears turning when not in use, myself i would rather be able to repack the ft. wheel bearings the replace the one that is in there at a cost of 385 bucks and have already done two . and i am not cityfied where i can't get out of my truck and get some mud or snow on my boots . I have had a 4x4 truck since 73 and all have had lockouts and i like them and if you have ever had to tare a dodge ft apart to replace the u/joints you will soon learn that they do not come apart easy i could have done three ft ends in the time that it took me to just do one side and the inter axel lock system with the plastic line get tore off if ya get in mudd to deep but if you are a black top 4x4 owner then don't worry about it but sometimes my truck gets dirty and even has to get pulled out on them rare occaisons when someone does not warn me of a fresh filled ditch or a tile blowout.and the truck end up in to the top of the headlites.
