If you have a bench grinder, remove the stones or wire brush from both ends, also the guards if it has them. replace with 6 inch cotton buffing wheels, and you will need the buffing compound for aluninum. Sears has the compound and the buffing wheels. I think Harbor Freight has it also. The compound I use from Sears comes in a box of 5 bars. This will remove the anodizing, it will also make it shine like chrome. the more you buff the more it shines.
