No need to mark anything there is a bolt thru the springs. The head is round and locates the spring in the spring perch.

U bolts should always be replaced according to GM. I have never seen one fail. At 8 bux each it is cheap insurance.

Also plan on replacing the spring alignment bolt, they are fine thread and dont fare well being taken apart. I get them at NAPA.
