FM,
I agree that the cable is twisted off. After you
take the dash panel off and get the speedo loose,
there is a spring clip that holds the cable to the
back of the speedo, if you can get your fingers behind the speedo you can depress the spring and pull the speedo out to get at the cable. The cable is removable from inside the truck unless it is twisted off, then you will have to crawl underneath to get the other half out by transmission. I lube them with a very light oil or graphite.
