1952 GMC Firetruck recovery...Posted by Dan on May 30, 2002 at 05:54:26 from (209.162.162.106):
15 yrs. ago our town of 2500 folks donated the 1952 GMC firetruck to a village of 200 fifteen miles down the road. This yr. our Captain and committee requested the old '52 back for historical reasons. Since the village has an updated truck, they gave it back. They ask to insert one stipulation and that is that when the '52 is restored to its parade glory that thier town's name appears on the doors as well. This was agreed to and now the truck is in the local shops getting restored with volunteer labor. Not certain yet but it may make its 1st. public appearance at the end of July when we have civic celebrations. She's not a Lafrance but I can see the big old chrome siren on left fender already. Thankyou.
