345 Cornbinder runs red hot!Posted by azjbird on June 02, 2002 at 06:12:56 from (12.83.103.253):
A member of our volunteer fire dept. has just rebuilt the 345 v8 engine in our awd. 1t. INT. fire truck. He did a beautifull job with alot of time spent on detail, and parts scrounging. The problem is however, that even with a fresh radiator, 160 thermostat, and correct timing spec, the thing cant even go down the street before getting too hot and puking out most of the coolant. The rad has good flow showing from under the 15lb cap. The carb is set perfecly, and it just purrs when running. The head gasket set would only go on 1 way, but my fear is that it was for a 304 or another model and has a blocked cooling passage in the head(s). Any old Binder heads out there have any thoughts on this? THX J.
