It's possible there is some thing in your oil pump, keeping the gears from turning. Remember the oil pump pulls directly from the oil pan, before the oil goes through the filter, only the screen on the pickup stops the big pieces. Use the bare distributor shaft, a screwdriver, something to reach down into the hole and turn the oil pump, before putting it back together. If it won't turn, you'll have to get into the bottom end. Also, how are the gears on your distributor shaft? Do they look in good shape, or are they worn to knife edges? It is possible that when worn badly, they will bind with the camshaft gear that drives them, which means more repair. John in ne.
