Before you go buying new starters and such, make yourself up a bypass cord and see if the truck starts good without the clicking. If it does you may have a faulty switch. My 76 chev has a faulty switch with same simptoms. If I turn the key hard like I was a trying to break it off it engages and fires up. I will have to get stranded somewhere before I fix it I guess.
