I am not sure of this, but I believe that my 48 Plymouth was a model P15. It came stock with a flathead 6 with 217 cid though mine had a later 230. I also had a 50 Chrysler Windsor with "Spitfire" cast into the top of the head and 6 cylinders that was supposed to be a 250. The Chrysler engine was a bit longer than the Plymouth engine, but they looked very similar. I know there was a lot of interchangability. Unfortunately I don't have either engine to measure length for you. As I remember them, both engines were painted silver, but the truck engines may have had a different color. Good luck.
