I have a 1966 GMC 3/4 ton that I converted to a 4x4. Mine has the 305 V6 with the sm420 4 speed trans and I installed a rockwell t-221 transfer case w/ dana 44 heavy duty (8 lug) front axle. It sounds like the truck you found is a grat deal. Trucks can be a bear to drive and they are not fast, I topped mine out at 80mph one time. The motor, I know for a fact and have done it (don't reccommmend it), can be drive wiht 3 workingf cylinders no oil and no coolant at 70mph down the freeway. If you want more info on the GMC V-6 trucks go to http://www.6066gmcguy.org this website is full of great information on these old trucks, I am also a member of this truck club too. Pat
