Only after the 96 model year will the Ford/IH diesel start to compare to the 460 in power. Before that the diesel has noticealbly less power. Don't buy a diesel unless you really, really want a diesel. Increased mpg will not make up for higher cost unless mileage gets really high annually (like 100,000). I love diesels to death (personally prefer the Cummins in the Dodge) and wouldn't have anything else. But if you have to ask, don't buy a diesel.
