Beyond that, I would buy a book on restoration. There is too much involved to write here. Not seeing the truck makes it more difficult to give you advice. As far as your husband's love for the old truck, it's an unexplainable guy thing. Old trucks have character and they are down to earth. Pure and simple without all the modern electronic poo poo and accessories. Just a stick shift, gas pedal, and lots of funky noises. They are like an old friend and parting with them is not easy. The designers gave them a look as though they were living creatures.
