Got a 47 Chev. 1/2ton that the body is good on but the old 216 is shot. Also have a 65 3/4ton that the body is trash but the 283 motor is good. Was thinking of getting these two old Chev's togather. Has any of you used this set-up? The 65 has a granny gear 4-speed. Would the 47's rear-end be ok with the V8 HP? I know a lot of folks think this is a sin, but it's my truck. Also I've been told not to mess with the 283 just put in a 350. Point is I've got the 283. My idea is use the 283 and trans from the 65. A 600cfm 4V and a mild cam. Just wanting a drive to work and cruse a little on the weekend. Please help with ideas.
