I agree on the wiring--my 84 F250 with factory 460 has a very different wiring harness than it would have with any other engine. It was very hard to follow the circuit diagram in the manual, because only part of it was for a 460 equipped truck. I would suggest carefully saving the wiring harness from the old cab and installing it in the replacement cab to make sure it will work with your engine. A lot of trouble, but a whole lot easier than completely rewiring or mickey-mousing up a harness for a different engine.

I have never changed a cab on that new of a pickup, but I have on older trucks. What we found to be easiest was to remove the bed first, lift up the new cab and push the chassis under it from the rear. This gives more room for jockeying the cab around and there is lots less chance of damaging the bed. Also a good time to deal with painting the front of the bed and the back of the cab.

It is real hard to estimate what a replacement cab would cost--demand in the area might make a good cab quite valuable. I would check with a wrecking yard to see just what years of cab would work. It might be cheapest to find a whole pickup with poor mechanicals and transfer what you need and sell off the rest. Obviously, a nice cab of the same year and the same color and ready to install would be more valuable than one of a different year and different color and a bit of damage and still on another truck. Watch out for rust! Good luck!
