not exactly a classic..Posted by lance on October 13, 2005 at 14:06:13 from (66.82.9.62): this is certainly off the classic category, but wondered if anyone has heard of a oil pan rotting out in as quick as 5 years. My 2000 Ford F-250 superduty diesel 7.3 needs the oil pan replaced. And doggonit those R and D guys at Ford had of been in time constraints for this one. They put that oil pan smack on top of the frame crossmember. you gotta dang yank the motor to drop the pan, have you ever heard of such malarchy. Instead of pulling the engine, would be ok to cut the rivets that hold the crossmember on remove and replace the pan an d bolt the crossmember back on, am I nuts or does it sound OK.
