My 1984 Chevy K Series 1-ton used to shake so bad at 30-35 that it finally broke the mounting bolts that hold the transmission/transfer case to the frame, allowing the engine to cock sideways, thus letting the clutch pedal pivot shaft slip out of its socket on the engine block rendering the clutch pedal useless. My son managed to jimmy things back together well enough with a crowbar to limp home. I had already tried new tires, new wheel bearings, new steering damper, new urethane suspension bushings, new tie rod and drag link, all to no avail. Finally I replaced the upper and lower kingpins on both sides, discovering that the upper kingpin on the left side had a longitudinal crack between the outer conical surface and the hex shaped socket that receives the eighty dollar allen wrench needed for installing the kingpins (it will not remove them - this requires welding a boxed end wrench to the kingpin and then adding a four foot cheater!). Things were great for a year, and now it's doing it again! I wish I could afford a new truck!
