Re: Are Old trucks worth it? What would you do?Posted by MikeC on June 18, 2002 at 03:54:56 from (12.110.246.240): In Reply to: Are Old trucks worth it? What would you do? posted by Edwin on June 18, 2002 at 02:51:21: Old trucks are as much a labor of love as anything. Unless you have one that is completely, totally restored, plan on giving it lots of TLC. But, if you had one that was in that was completely, totally restored you wouldn't want to use it for hauling firewood, would you? Usually these old trucks are pretty reliable, but when something breaks it can be challenging trying to find certain parts. As far as a daily driver and at highway speeds, forget it. Most of these trucks are geared so low that 55-60 is about top end. Unless you want to ruin the originality by putting modern chassis components (brakes, suspension, differentials, etc) you will want to stay off the Interstates and main highways. So, given what you have said, in my opinion, you would be better served looking at a more modern truck rather than an antique.
