2000 F150 geared too high

I have a 2000 F150 that has a mazda 4 speed (+overdrive) manual tranny. My problem is that it idles at 7 mph in 1st & reverse, thus making me have to "slip the clutch" when backing a trailer. Tried to buy an underdrive unit, but can't find any for this tranny. Anyone out there know a way to fix this?
