1957 GMC - What'll fit?!?

Hi! I just bought a 1957 GMC Heavy Half-ton and the engine is in pretty rough shape. I figured I should probably swap it out, but if I do that then I want to get a few more ponies under the hood than the inline six that's in there now. Anyone have any idea what will fit without me having to chop anything up? Sorry - I'm not terribly auto-literate, so any advice is welcome!
