350 rod knocking?
Posted by Websmith on January 17, 2006 at 20:18:28 from (18.104.22.168):
I recently inherited a 1985 C-10 pickup with a 350 that was rebuilt less than 2 years ago by a Doctor.
The truck was stolen for a few weeks and now appears to have a rod knocking?
When I first started it at around 32 degrees outside, it sounded Ok except for an air compressor or maybe a water pump bearing "Whine".
15 mins. later I heard a knocking sound after it warmed up. The lower the RPM the louder the knocking sound (on the left side), especially when in gear and RPM arond 500.
The oil pressure guage doesn't move much above 15 psi no matter the engine speed.
I've been told this is a rod knocking or maybe a flywheel broken and maybe a bad oil pump.
The actual truck mileage is 190,000. I can deal with most anything. What do I do if it is a rod knocking? What about the rest?
