I am in the auto restoration business, and have seen people buy an old vehicle like you are considering, expecting it to work like a modern truck. Not gonna happen!! That old '41 is geared to pull stumps, and has been mentioned, is far too slow for modern roads. The brakes are horrible by modern standards, and most pickups built in the last 30 years will haul more weight. There is no power steering or brakes, no air conditioning, no radio (usually) and the cabs are really small. They rattle with gay abandon and require massive amounts of work to keep them running. I know. I charge people to keep old vehicles running. I rebuilt a '73 Chevy 3/4 ton with 454 and Turbo 400, 4.11 gears and with one ton Camper Special equipment. The only body panels on the truck that are original are the hood, grill, and front bumper (replated) the rest went to the junk pile. I rebuilt everything and added power windows and door locks. It has every option available in '73 except four wheel drive. I use it to pull my Buicks in a 30 foot Tommy trailer. Works great. New trucks are mega bucks and are mostly plastic. My old '73 is made of real metal and is a pleasure to drive. The A/C blows cold, has great power steering and adequate brakes. Lots of power. There is nothing like a big block. And, it is fun to "smoke" a Power Stroke or Cummins on a hill!! Good luck and all the best........Greg
