Hey Brian.
FWIW...I have to agree w/one of the other posting, its only gonna mask a problem. You will probably need to adjust the alt/gen to produce more output, its only gonna charge to 6 volts. Could end up back where you started.
I would also check the Ford N board archives. This comes up from time to time.
