steering box on 79 Ford

Morning Boys; My son has a 79 f-150 2 wheel drive we've had it aligned but it wanders. I have tightened the nut/screw assy. on top of the steering box ( 1/8-1/4 turn) twice. each time it is better for a few days then starts to wander again. I need some help from the experts. thank you.
