1987 Ford F-250Posted by Tweeter on March 05, 2006 at 07:09:40 from (72.9.21.198):
I put a new mechanical fuel pump on the 351 Windsor in the F250 and I got the truck to run for awhile. Then it just puked out. Now I cannot get it started. Does the mechanical fuel pump pull gas from the tank or is the gas gravity fed to the pump? I took the steel gas line off the carb. and it does not squirt gas out when I crank the motor. I took the smaller rubber hose off the fuel pump and filled it with gas and then gas squirted out of the steel line when I cranked the motor. I checked for relay switches or anything like that and the truck has none. It seems that I am not getting gas to the fuel pump and I know there is at least 5 gallons of gas in the tank.
