Thanks for the reply. I think you and Billy are both right. I checked the cam lift and #1 exhaust has only .118 inch; some of the others are also considerably less than spec. I got this rebuilt engine only 5000 miles ago so I'm surprised the cam is shot already. I think I'll go with a new cam and lifters and worry about the valve springs later.
