TV, I learned to drive in a '48 Ford F-5 truck, non-synchro granny 4-speed, vacuum 2-spd axle, quarter turn of free play, no vacuum assist on the brakes (worked out well, 'cause the only brake that worked well was the right front wheel brake). Then a few years ago I bought my '50 F-6, basically the same truck but with tighter steering and vacuum assist brakes. After having been away from that '48 for about 25 years, I found it hard to believe a little scrawny kid like me could have ever driven that rig. Takes a good size man (or a 12 year old farm boy) to horse that thing around. Yer right, I think we've probably all gotten soft.
