I use as thick of steel as I can. Right now I am patching together a '48/51 F-4 using 16 gauge sheet metal from an industrial control panel I had in my shop. The front clip I am using is fairly rough shape but repairable. You can check out my web site for a chart of parts that interchange between the different size models. This chart is also list on FTE.

I haven't been able to update my own website with pictures of the fender repairs but I have some posted on the BonusBuilt web site:
