I have shortend frams on trucks and replaced frame sections on our dirt track cars. Best way i have found is to cut the frame, flare one end so you can slip the other inside, bolt with high grade bolts double nut then peen the bolt end and weld along the frame as well. no problems so far. also if you plan on hauling heavy loads like we do with the wrecker we shortend use some fish plates on each side.....Jim
