I haven't had to prime a fuel pump before but had problems like this. I took a rag and air compressor blower then blew into the gas tank to get gas to the fuel pump. Found out that I had a plugged fuel tank because the strainer was rotten and the tank had 30 years of asphalt in it. Took tank out visited car wash, high pressure soap and shook some gravel around to loosen stuff then rinsed clean. new strainer and fuel line and the fuel pump pulled fine.
