1977 F250 Supercab VIN questionsPosted by Ray on April 28, 2006 at 02:46:58 from (4.242.189.224): I am looking at purchasing a 1977 F250 Supercab, but for several reasons I am suspicious of the VIN and am hoping that someone here can answer a couple of quick questions. The biggest issue is the number itself. It starts of "X25..." Did supercab VINs start with "X"? (maybe for "extended cab") I've never seen or heard of a 1970s Ford truck VIN starting with anything but "F". Also, where should the VIN be located? Is it just in the door frame, or should a 1977 have it on the dashboard? Where else should there be a VIN on this truck? The truck is an impound abandonment, so there isn't a former owner to ask. (Which also adds to my suspicion.) Thanks in advance for any help/advice with this one. I need to decide pretty fast if I want it or not.
