It can be done,the IH pickups used side mounts with that engine. You will need a rear sump oil pan on the engine to clear the GM suspension/front axle. If the IH has a very heavy duty 5 spd,make sure it will fit under your GM trans tunnel.
That being said,are you really really sure you want the IH engine/trans?? You are in for a lot of work fitting an engine that will do no better on reliability/economy/power,than a number of GM engines that will bolt right in your GM truck.
