Re: 300-6 in 71 F600 would it swap in my 83 F150 with 300-6Posted by mark ct on July 15, 2002 at 21:42:51 from (12.90.164.241): In Reply to: 300-6 in 71 F600 would it swap in my 83 F150 with 300-6 posted by Boyd on July 14, 2002 at 23:30:39:
i am not ceartain but i think that the big trucks used a heavier tranny input shaft which had a bigger pilot bearing. i know this is how it is on my 79 ford 600 which has a 429 V8.I know the pickups used the same shaft for the 6's and 8's and i believe the big trucks used the same larger shaft for the heavy 6's and heavy 8's. the straigt six is a great motor tho. i have V'8s in my trucks(84 F350 with a 351w and 79 L600 with a 429 industrial)but i have a 300 six from a 83 F150 that i transplanted into a caterpilar grader and i love it.
