Rust is a big concern, but many patch panels and complete body parts are on the market. Windows are not too bad of a problem, but it can get expensive if you have to replace many of them. The rubber parts like weatherstrip and seals are also out there for this truck. 2. A 351 Windsor (which is what was in the station wagon) would be a relatively easy swap in this truck. Complete kits with mounts are available. You would probably have to switch out the rear end unless you run an overdrive transmission. The factory rear end is geared too low for highway speeds with good fuel economy. 3. Mustang II front end would ba a good choice. The big brakes would help. Be sure to get a proportioning valve. With front disk brakes a new master cylinder is needed. There should be bolt in units out there. 4. I think 2" drop would be fine. If you want to get fancy, install some airbags later. It might be worthwhile to try the normal spindles first. You can always change it later. My dad had one of these trucks. My granpa (his father-in-law) made it into a pickup bed trailer. I don't think my dad was very happy about this. That 55' was one of his favorite trucks. Start looking in street rod magazines. Lots of parts, vendors and ideas for these trucks. Sorry about the length, e-mail if you need further help.
