6 volt ignition coil

welllll i have rebuilt the starter.replaced the battery the plugs. swapped out a nos fuel pump with a glass bowl, new fuel filter. i rebuilt the carb. still wont start. sooooo i am now thinking it might be the ignition coil. bypassed all diff areas from the starter but i guess it could also be the condenser in the distributer so my question is, would it hurt if i tried a 12 volt ignition coil just to see if it would work? or would that fry something ? lol
