1966 F350 352 PVC Question?

I have a 1966 F350 with a 352. The air cleaner had been removed by the previous owner and the hose from the PVC valve run to the base of the carb. I therefore get a lot of oil smoke comming from the oil filler cap. Should I move the PVC hose? I know in other older cars this hose went to the air cleaner.
