Stretching truck framePosted by Sonny Heath on July 18, 2002 at 18:02:48 from (204.49.76.117):
I have a 1996 Freightliner Condo with a seventy (70) inch sleeper. I would like to make an RV toter out of it and will need to stretch it seven foot six inches in order to mount a 14 ft. box on the back to build my living quarters in. Some have told me that by stretching it so much will throw too much weight on to my 12000 lb front axle. The box that I intend to add will weigh about 8000 lb loaded I believe. My new wheelbase would be about 28 foot. Any ideas? Please respond tonight as I want to cut tomorrow maybe and hope I'm not wasting a good truck. Thanks, Sonny Heath
