Before I hollowed it out and caused harm to the catalytic converter I would remove the catalytic converter and slip in a piece of exhaust pipe and see if it ran ok. If it didn't run ok, and you damaged your catalytic converter you would have to buy a new one like others said. If you decided to leave the catalytic converter out and use the pipe you can sell the old catalytic converter to a scrap yard that buys them. Depending on the scrap yard you can get any where from $10.00 up to $100.00 for the foreign ones. that's worth mailing it off to a junk yard, I have a web site for a junk yard that does that.
