Some folks will put an older cab on a modern one ton frame (Or larger depending on what they are hauling..)I wouldn't go any older than the 50's as the cabs are lots smaller if you go older.Check Street Rodder or one of the hot rod truck mags for ideas. Probably the most cost effective way to haul your tractor would be a 70's truck. Those could come stock with highway gears, air conditioning, modern lighting, and a good V8. Parts can still be obtained in salvage yards, and they aren't so old as to be real fragile. If you can stick with a one ton you will go faster and have better mileage. IF you are going for the modern conversion, a Super Duty will handle a bigger load. GOod luck, sounds like fun!
