I cannot imagine what backing that up would be like. I guess it would be almost the same as having a bumper pull instead of a gooseneck. You will lose much of the good points of gooseneck trailers, like weight distribution over both axles, easier backing and manueverability, smoother ride...

Sonny, I strongly suggest you take a while to go and visit with some real truck shops that do body mounting, frame stretching, etc. Ask at least two different shops their opinion on what you want to do. Frame stretching IS done, especially in the towing industry to mount rollback bodies. I own a one ton that was stretched about 40 inches back in '77, and I never had a problem with the frame. You may fine it necessary to swap to a heavier front end..Talk to some folks who have similar rigs to what you are trying to build. Don't try to reinvent the wheel alone. Learn from everyone else's experience, then make the modifications. Plan, plan, plan, then do it. Too quick a move into a major mod like this without adequate engineering can bite you bad.
