Re: bore a 305 to a 350Posted by Pontiacguy1 on August 04, 2006 at 06:56:03 from (204.151.5.37): In Reply to: bore a 305 to a 350 posted by justin on April 15, 2003 at 07:10:57: There is no way to bore a 305 out to a 350. The 305 bore is 3.735" and the 350 bore is 4.000". If you did bore a 305 out that much without hitting a sand hole or something, the walls would be way too thin and weak. The engine would also overheat terribly because of the extra heat transferred through the super thin walls into your coolant. It costs the same money to build a 305 as it does a 350. The only reason to go with the 350 is because you will end up with an extra 20 to 30 HP (estimated) and 50 lb-ft of torque for your efforts. A 305 can be built to run pretty good, but why not make your money go as far as it can?
