I never had to fix one yet but here's what Chilton says. You take the heater & AC control panel loose and directly behind the panel is a vacuum diaphram attached to the gate that switches the air flow. From personal experience one more thing to check is the blower air intake. It's straight ahead of the passenger seat on the firewall side of the heater/ac box. If somebody left a plastic grocery bag in the floor the blower can suck it in and cover the air intake.
