Lower the rear of F250HD with longer shackles?

I have trouble getting my Toro lawn tractor into and off of the back of my 94 F250HD 2 wheel drive. I even use curved ramps for loading the lawn tractor but the deck hangs up on the edge. I have seen longer pieces of steel in a kit at my local parts store and thought if I could get them to fit they could lower the back of my truck. But could this effect the rear u-joint as I guess it would change the angle of the driveshaft?
