Re: Changing an engine in a 1948 Ford F-5Posted by Jon Hagen on August 17, 2006 at 16:33:50 from (69.26.29.142): In Reply to: Changing an engine in a 1948 Ford F-5 posted by Mitch Atkins on August 17, 2006 at 15:47:12:
An automatic equipped engine makes an easy swap with no clutch linkage to fabricate. Get all the throttle linkage to the trans if used and you might have an easier swap with somthing with a carb instead of electronic fuel injection. Try to get the complete donor car for all the little bits you need to mount and make the engine/trans work. Motor mounts, front driveshaft section etc. Have fun. A smallblock Ford or Chevy is a nice fit in an early F5 I drove a 48 f5 with a 289 Ford power for many years.
