Wondering how you can check on what an old rear end has for a gear ratio. The one I have in my 66 Ford 1/2 ton with a 73 302 , 4 speed ahead of it will pull like a darn on any hill but revs out about 70 mph. I have found one from a 72 that had a 302 , auto in it and it seemed to be a faster rear end. I marked the drive shaft and marked the tire and made two revolutions with the drive shaft and the tire on the 72 travelled more than the one in the 66. Am i correct or missing something. Is there an other way to check.
