Bill,

I had a 29' Double "A" (1 ton) Ford with dual wheels out back. It was an old farm truck that had the frame "tweaked" about 2 ft behind the cab. I wacked off the back of the frame and graphed a frame from an old IH furniture truck that I got from the bone yard. It had nice flat frame rails, and a good HD IH rear in it. I built a flat bed car hauler bed on it with a tilt down tail. I used it for my auto repair business back in the early 70's. Had a 10,000 lb Super Winch up front, and would pull pretty much anything up on her and away we went. I had a .30 over 400 Chevy in it (406 CI). When she was loaded, she hauled cars n' trucks with no problem, and when she was empty, she'd haul ass! It sure was a head turner!
I boxed the frame rails on the 29' part of the chassis, and put in some reinforcements in the IH end of the chassis. It was a lot of fun, and the talk of the town where ever we went. I sold it after I sold the business in the 80's. Kinda wish I still had it, I could put my tractor on it and take it to shows. Anyway, here's somebody that did what you have in mind.... Steve
